Anxious to preserve the necessary discretion an initiatory society, the Freemasons of the eighteenth century used abundantly, in his correspondence, a key that has called Masonic alphabet. The Masonic alphabet, is an encrypted and hieroglyphic writing characterized by the use of geometric signs intended to ensure prying eyes and secular private aspects of the Order. It is written around a linear structure representing Trace Iron.
Scripture is a set of graphical representation of a language, by means of recorded or drawn on a support, or method of human communication employing the sense of vision signs where ideographic writing consisting of prints or drawings on stone, papyrus, parchment, wooden boards, paper or other media. Representing an idea.
Cryptography (or cryptology; from Greek κρυπτός kryptós, “hidden, secret”; and γράφειν graphein, “writing”, or -λογία -logia, “study”, respectively) is the art or science of encrypting and decrypting information using special techniques, it is often used to allow an exchange of messages that can be read only by those to whom they are addressed and have the means to decipher. This form of writing so especially used by all branches of the military intelligence of any country or nation, for military purposes or not, are also the best defense communications and data traveling over the Internet.
One of the oldest cryptographic procedures was the Scitala of the Spartans, for which he was known to Sparta in the time of Lycurgus, this method was later also used by Julius Caesar who applied various improvements to style; it should be noted that the use of cryptography goes far back in time: and in Egyptian hieroglyphics and cuneiform texts were used cryptographic procedures as texts were written in the head of slaves as collateral in communications. Currently the art of encrypting and decrypting is the task of computers, the most important of all time cryptographers have been true mathematical geniuses.
The Masonic Order has not been an exception to the employment of such issues; on the contrary its origins are lost in the immensity of time as their symbols, writing and knowledge; after symbol there is a message written by someone who knows when realizing that it will be seen, read and interpreted by the person or persons who are prepared for it, not caring how long delayed that secret to see the light, only to arrive the right person; it should be noted that the order in times past had a secret because of the persecutions to which he faced this reason required the maintenance of multiple secrets under all those beautiful symbolism; this subject well known to all.
The pigpen cipher (sometimes referred to as the masonic cipher, Freemason’s cipher, or tic-tac-toe cipher) is a geometric simple substitution cipher which exchanges letters for symbols which are fragments of a grid.
The exact origin of the cipher is uncertain, but records of this system have been found which go back to at least the 18th century. In September 14, 1486 in Germany is born Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa, in 1503 he assumed the name of Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa von Nettesheim, three years later, he founded a secret society in Paris, dedicated to astrology, magic and cabala. His career was diverse: secret agent, soldier, doctor, writer, speaker and professor of law at Cologne, Paris, Dole, London, Italy, Pavia, and Metz. In 1509, he created a laboratory in Dole and during the next ten years he was traveling around Europe, living as an alchemist, and humanist. Henry Cornelius Agrippa of Nettesheim was a friend of Abbe Trithemie, who was his teacher and correspondent of Erasmus, Melachton and most from the other mentalists of his time. Pope Leo X called him “his beloved son”.
In 1520, he began practicing medicine in Geneva and in 1524 became the personal physician of the queen mother in the court of King Francis I, in Lyon. Practice Medicine in Artuérpia, for a time he was serving the emperors Maximilian I, Charles I of Spain, as historian. He died on February 18, 1535.
This multifaceted man, who among his many skills is the creator of a cryptographic system based on a monoalphabetic substitution cipher called “Pig Pen” and works as “De occulta philosophia”, printed in 1531, which collected all the medieval knowledge of magic, astrology, alchemy, medicine and natural philosophy; this number was written in the Book No. 3 chapter 30 of this book. Years later, Vigenère reproduces in its Traicté des chiffres, or secretes manieres d’escrire (Paris, 1586, f. 275 v). Variations of this cipher were used by both the Rosicrucian brotherhood and the Freemasons, though the latter used it so often that the system is frequently called the Freemason’s cipher. They began using it to keep their records of history and rites private, and for correspondence between lodge leaders. Tombstones of Freemasons can also be found which use the system as part of the engravings. One of the earliest stones in Trinity Church Cemetery in New York City, which opened in 1697, contains a cipher of this type which deciphers to “Remember death” (cf. “memento mori”). George Washington’s army had documentation about the system, with a much more randomized form of the alphabet. And during the American Civil War, the system was used by Union prisoners in Confederate prison
The cipher pig pen, is the Masonic encryption or writing; used to protect documents, information and knowledge before the eyes of profane and trackers from 1533 to the present day. Can cite many examples of this classic texts being used cryptosystem encryption, such as Masonic tablets, documentation of the time, engravings, etc.
There are some beautiful examples that demonstrate the passage of the Freemasons as cathedral builders, as men of knowledge capable of lasting over time and shows the use of these symbols, codes or writing; found in the Canary Islands, specifically Tenerife in the town of Orotava. In this town the Church of Nuestra Señora de la Concepción, where you can appreciate this script as an indication of the position and location of solid stone blocks that form, stands as the allegorical to the Great Architect of the Universe symbologies up relief that adorn the basis of their beautiful columns that hold.
There are many places where the footprint is kept alive of the Freemasons, through its symbols, codes and mysteries.
“Throughout the expansion of the sky that surrounds the world there are figures, signs by which we can unlock the secrets and deepest mysteries. These signs are formed by the stars and constellations, which are for the wise object of contemplation and delight. .. “. “Whoever travels early morning, and see eastward with care. He will see something like letters marching in the sky, some rising, some falling. These brilliant characters are letters with which God has made heaven and earth “. Zohar
