Alchemy and Pinocchio

Launched in 1940, Pinocchio is a Disney classic that is still appreciated by children and adults worldwide. Pinocchio was originally written by Italian Carlo Lorenzini (known by his pen name Carlo Collodi). (1826-1890)

Le Avventure di Pinocchio has a lot of metaphysical aspects that are often overlooked by modern readers. An important fact that is needed to fully understand the depth of Lorenzini’s work was an active Freemason. In an essay called Pinocchio, mio Fratello (Pinocchio, my Brother)

The story of the wooden marionette conceals a spiritual allegory based on esoteric teachings, it is the story of the human soul in its journey of spiritual evolution. Pinocchio is created under the influence of two characters, one male and one female (symbolizing the two aspects of God).

The “Blue Fairy”, the representative of the Great God, come down to earth to give Pinocchio a spark of the Universal Mind, “Nous” of the Gnostics.

Jiminy Cricket, which represents our consciousness.

In Masonry the process of seeking enlightenment through the transformation of the rough stone into a shaped, Pinocchio begins his journey as a rough piece of wood and try to soften their edges to finally become a real boy. Nothing is handed to him yet. An inner alchemical process must take place in order to be worthy of enlightenment. He has to go through life, fighting temptations, and, using his conscience (played by Jiminy Cricket), have to find the right path. The first step is to go to school (symbolizing knowledge). After that, the temptations of life on the road quickly find Pinocchio. on their way to school, Pinocchio is stopped by the Fox Foulfellow (not a very trustworthy name) and Gideon the Cat to lure the “easy path to success”: the world of entertainment. Despite the warnings of his conscience, the marionette follows the shady characters and sold to Stromboli, the belligerent puppet promoter.

Pinocchio however quickly learns the great costs of this apparent success: can not return to see his father (the Creator), the money generated is used only to enrich Stromboli, his “driver” and see what fate awaits when it gets old.

Pinocchio realizes the sad situation in which it is. He is caged like an animal at the mercy of a cruel puppeteer. He was tricked into selling his soul.

Pinocchio then gains his conscience (Jiminy Cricket) and tries to escape. Aware of the good in the world but you can not save him, Cricket can not open the lock. Nothing short of divine intervention is needed to save, but not before it’s truthful of the fairy (the divine messenger) and, above all, himself.

Pinocchio returns home to join his father, but the house is empty. He learns that Geppetto has been swallowed by a giant whale. The puppet then jumps into the water and get swallowed by the whale in order to find the Creator, this is his final initiation, where you have to escape the darkness of the ignorant life (symbolized by the belly of the giant whale) and gain spiritual light. The whale is the process of initiation, here he find its origin and born again, and every detail of the symbolism is loaded with meaning: the sea mixed with the night is dark MATTER moisture mercury. The monster is Ouroboros, the guardian of the latent energy, analogous to the Kundalini serpent in tartaric doctrine. Finally heat is the passion: the victory of the hero will be to do a heat of “auto incubation,” a fervor for renewal; then the world is nothing but a grave and a matrix, and the hero, fertilized himself coming to the egg from which he will be reborn

Pinocchio represents the soul transformation is a wooden doll that can talk and learn and who is sent by his father Gepetto (The Inner Father) to the school that represents life. In Pinocchio (us) school is trapped by a bad friend (which is inside one) who wrongly advised and ends at the circus (our way of life).

This story is Alchemy Pure, simple and full of love story and a tremendously deep occult symbology.
